Private Security Officer, Class "D" License -

After successfully completing this 40 hours of Professional Security Officer training program, the student will be able to perform the following:

Course A - 24 Hours

1. Understand the requirements of Chapter 493, F.S., and 5N-1, F.A.C., regulating the private security industry in Florida.
2. Understand Chapter 776, F.S., and the legal authority and liability for security actions involving the use of force.
3. Apply basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
4. Conduct emergency procedures.
5. Understand the importance of ethics and professional conduct.
6. Access Control.
7. Demonstrate patrol techniques.
8. Make observations and write reports concerning security incidents.
9. Demonstrate interviewing techniques.
10. Conduct security duties regarding fire detection, suppression and life safety.
11. Perform crime and accident prevention techniques.
12. Perform crime and accident scene protection.
13. Identify entrepreneurship opportunities in the private security industry.
14. Terrorism Awareness.
15. Demonstrate employability skills in the private security industry

Course B - 16 Hours

1. Understand the importance of public and interagency relations.
2. Demonstrate courtroom procedures.
3. Understand the fundamentals of personal security.
4. Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills.
5. Demonstrate professional communication skills.
6. Perform traffic control.
7. Perform crowd control.
8. Terrorism Awareness
9. Identify special problems for security.
